There are many places in the world that require English teachers and the qualifications vary from place to place. Do some research and decide where you want to go. There is a high demand for teachers in Asia, Africa, Europe, Central America, and South America so the sky is the limit. Teaching English is a great way to learn about new cultures, travel, and improve yourself. You can volunteer your time in a poor area or head to a big city and make some serious money.

If you like working with children than choosing a job as a nanny is a great way to spend your gap year. There are plenty of websites that can help you find work either in the country that you live in or abroad as an au pair. Working as an au pair is a great way to travel and not have to worry about the cost of accommodation or the hassle that comes with finding somewhere to live. You will be expected to work for a certain amount of time but then the rest of the time is yours to explore new cultures, learn new languages and meet fascinating people with similar interests.
