There is nothing better than going on a road trip when you don’t have a time limit. If you are living in Europe it is easy to go between borders and the sky is the limit. There is plenty of cheap accommodation in the UK and you can stay at hostels, stay in university halls when the students aren’t there, or just search online for last minute deals. You can travel with friends or make some friends along the way as you explore on the road. There are many beautiful places in the UK, so you won’t get bored of exploring.

Working in the cruise ship industry is a great way to combine working and travelling. There are jobs for people with skills like doctors and nurses but you can also find general labour jobs like cooking, cleaning, or retail. It is a fabulous way to meet people and learn exciting things about the world. Choose a cruise line that is going to places that you are interested in seeing and you will get to explore when the ship docks.
Teaching English
There are many places in the world that require English teachers and the qualifications vary from place to place. Do some research and decide where you want to go. There is a high demand for teachers in Asia, Africa, Europe, Central America, and South America so the sky is the limit. Teaching English is a great way to learn about new cultures, travel, and improve yourself. You can volunteer your time in a poor area or head to a big city and make some serious money.
Work as a Nanny
If you like working with children than choosing a job as a nanny is a great way to spend your gap year. There are plenty of websites that can help you find work either in the country that you live in or abroad as an au pair. Working as an au pair is a great way to travel and not have to worry about the cost of accommodation or the hassle that comes with finding somewhere to live. You will be expected to work for a certain amount of time but then the rest of the time is yours to explore new cultures, learn new languages and meet fascinating people with similar interests.
